XBOX Social Networking Platform

Mashable has a good post on Microsoft’s XBOX Social Networking platform:
Fans of the Xbox 360 will notice their systems update on December 4th, and according to reports will now allow a social networking feature called “Friends of Friends.” There exists currently within the Xbox live framework the ability to maintain a list of friends, presumably regular gaming partners.

There’s a quick blog post here taking a look at what Google and Yahoo are up to with their nextgen social networks. Take a read, “Google, Yahoo Both Working on Next Generation Social Networks“.
We’ll see how they do. Just seems to me that the most successful social networks to come about so far let their social networks help build their product up. Tough strategy trying to match the wisdom of crowds win a conference room, no matter how big.

This is Andreesen’s shot at Web 2.0 Social Networking. From the Web site:
“Ning is the only online service where you can create, customize, and share your own Social Network for free in seconds.”
At a passing glance, the site doesn’t seem that 2.0ish. Where’s the shiny buttons? We’ll see how it does.

During my desparate search for a new domain name regardless of it’s stupidity, I came across what is described as, “the socially connected, best polling site out there”.
The site claims it’s the, “easiest way to ask a bunch of people just about anything”.
Check it Quimble:

Zemble - Social Networking with Text
Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
Came across this site while researching sms gateways:
Zemble.com is the social networking website that helps you interact with your friends through the power of text messaging.
Group Text Messages
You can text message large groups of friends from your phone by sending just one text message, and it goes out to the whole group.
Reply-All Text Messaging
We have developed a super secret algorithm that allows you to choose if you want to respond to the entire group or just the person who sent you the text.
We’ll see how they do. Hopefully text messaging is the social networking enabler of the future.

Top 12 Music Social Networks
Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
From Mashable:
Internet radio may be facing uncertain times, but many musical social networks continue to thrive. If you’re in a band, these sites are essential for promoting your music: take note, and sign up for as many as possible to maximize your reach. For fans, meanwhile, we’ve included some great places to just listen to music. We won’t mention the obvious one, of course: MySpace remains the hub for music on the web.

Facebook vs MySpace
Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
With talk of Rupert Murdoch attempting to ‘offload’ MySpace to Yahoo in return for a 25% stake in the company, there’s inevitably been another round of discussion in the tech media comparing Facebook to MySpace. Not only is Facebook growing at a faster rate than MySpace — though as TechCrunch points out, MySpace is still growing fast and Facebook has a long way to go before catching up — it was Yahoo that tried and failed to buy Facebook last year.
